MISSION STATEMENT

Massachusetts Area Ghost Investigators Coalition, a Not-For-Profit group, is a team of professional investigators looking to find out more information about the unknown. We will be using scientific tools as well as scientific research in order to study the paranormal. We will try to prove that a location is not haunted; anything that is left over can be theorized to be of a paranormal nature. MAGIC usually investigates places such as homes, cemeteries, hotels/motels, schools, roads, bridges, places where a crime took place; as well as any other place that are claimed to hold paranormal activity. Release of any information about these locations will be done with owner’s permission. All investigations will be done with discretion and care for our clients confidentiality.
We will take the proper steps to determine if a location holds authentic paranormal activity. We will be following a protocol when an investigation is taking place. This can be found on our investigation page. Everything that we find during our investigation will be reviewed and presented to the owner. If the owner grants permission then we will then take our evidence and make it public.

Again we are not claiming to hold all the answers or claim to be "experts" in the field of the paranormal. We will never ask you for a fee for our investigation for any reason. We may ask for you to help with gas if the distance is great. Donations and contributions though appreciated are unnecessary.

MAGIC reserves the right to turn down any investigation for any reason. These reasons may include but are not limited to: distance, misrepresentation of your experiences (basically contradicting stories or lying), contact for the sake of seeing a paranormal group operate. Please do not make up stories as we will not investigate your home if this is found to be the case. Further know that this will detracts from those who may have a genuine problem and need our help.
If there is justifiable reason to why we are unable to assist you in your circumstances we will try to find you a suitable replacement or at least point you in the right direction.

 

OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR CLIENTS

MAGIC is team of seasoned and trained paranormal investigators. We are committed to bringing professionalism, respect and guidance into paranormal field. We are a group looking to explore the means of paranormal existence without any biased or meritocracy. We approach the paranormal on a scientific level, looking for answers to the unknown.
Please use common sense when you invite groups into your home. There isn't an “expert” in this field. All of any group’s members could have individual degrees in science, photography, spiritualism, the list can go on here but that doesn’t mean they have the knowledge in the paranormal. MAGIC Has been in this field for many years, some members longer than others. MAGIC Members, are scientists, who are trying to prove a theory that ghosts/paranormal may exist. Understanding the common causes of natural verses paranormal events takes time and learning by investigating.

MAGIC Will do our best in helping you with your problem that you are facing.

What MAGIC will do for you:

1. We will find a plausible cause to what you are experiencing whether it be natural or paranormal. We will take the proper steps even if that is to include contacting an outside source to assist.
2. We will use equipment audio ,video and other sustainable equipment when investigating with permission by you.
3. We will keep in touch with our clients weekly during an investigation. We will also keep in touch periodically after an investigation if deemed necessary.
4. Copies of all data gathered will be available to the client if requested.
5. We insure that all of our members are trust worthy. Each of our members have a clean background. We have a Security Officer, Medic/Nurse, Mechanic, Technical Expert, Spiritualist, Private Investigator and a Marketing Coach on our team. To learn more about our team Click here

What MAGIC won’t do:

1. MAGIC will never ask for any money for an investigation. A lot of groups will accept a donation to help then with their expenses but to charge person money is a bit uncouth.
2. MAGIC will not perform banishments, cleansings or blessings. If this is something that you are looking for we can contact someone who can assist you.
3. MAGIC will never mislead you, misrepresent our data/experiences from an investigation or not contact you while inclussion of the investigation.
4. MAGIC will never use your information publicly unless permission is granted by you, the client, and this will be obtained in writing.

Protocol

Members of MAGIC will follow protocol when conducting any investigation. This it to insure that the information that we gather is authentic before it is released to the owner or for public viewing.

• Respect for places, dwellings or anyplace that we visit is a must by all MAGIC members.
• Permission from the owner of a home, school etc. will always be given before a formal investigation. This permission will be in written form and a copy will be given to owner.
• Proper picture identification will be carried on all MAGIC members at all times such as a driver’s license or photo id.
• Certain precautions will be taken before an investigation. Such as the wearing of fragrances like colognes and perfumes, body sprays, body mists, hand and body lotions, est. are not permitted during the times of investigation.( If certain paranormal activities have certain orders that have been noted we want to be able to trace the source.) If using bug spray when outdoors or in the woods please try for unscented or low odor types, and make sure it is noted in the logs. Hair that touches the shoulders or longer will be pulled back away from the face or tucked up under a hat at all times. (Hair can get in the way of the lens of the camera and cause a non-authentic photograph.) To read an article on non-authentic photographs click HERE.
• MAGIC members are not permitted to smoke during an active investigation. (It can cause photographs to show up with certain types of anomalous behavior that would not be authentic.) If you do smoke a smoking area will be designated and noted in logs.
• Anyone found using alcohol or drugs before/on/during/after an investigation will be terminated immediately
• Make and effort to keep straps, fingers and all foreign objects away from the lens of the camera when taking photographs. (It can cause types of anomalous behavior in pictures that wouldn't be authentic.)
• All equipment that MAGIC uses will be tested by at least 1 other member(s) of the group when used on an investigation. (This is to insure that the equipment is in proper working order before an investigation.)
• When using video/audio tapes on an investigation they will be wrapped in their original packaging before their use. At least 1 other member(s) will be there to verify their opening to make sure that there is no tampering or reuse of the tapes. *UPDATE TO PROTOCOL -see below
• On an investigation when encountering the paranormal all information written, photos, video evp, and emf’s, which are taken will be witnessed by at least 1 other member(s) to back up the findings. (This is to prevent tampering, or claiming false and/or exaggerated information used on a case.) Any one found tampering or claiming false and/or exaggerated information will be terminated from our group.
• The release of information to the owner of a potentially haunted location, public, media or press is not permitted by anyone accept the lead investigator(s) and the founder. The Founder and Lead investigators prior to the information’s release, will review all investigation materials and information. A decision will be made on how much and what information is released on such cases and at what times.
• MAGIC is not a psychic or medium group. It approaches things scientifically with equipment that is known to have an affect on the paranormal. It does not employ the use of stones, cards or Ouija boards in performing an investigation. MAGIC will not perform séances to contact the dead. Though MAGIC acknowledges that some of us have extra sensory perception known as “sensitivity” to the paranormal, we will consider this evidence personal experience that can be used to verify or back up evidence and experiences. However this shall not be the main focus of our investigations. It will not be relied upon as absolute or concrete evidence and it will be justified if it is authentic before the information is released to anyone outside of the group.
• Investigations are the key in finding authentic paranormal activity using scientific methods. Our goal in this field is to rule out any natural possibilities and then to see if indeed that what we have left is of a paranormal origin.
• There are certain steps that MAGIC takes when performing any investigation, which can be found under investigational procedures.

**UPDATE

New teachings have shed new light on EVP work. Thanks to Jim Brown and his studies. Here is a tidbit from his site that sheds new light on audio tapes.

"Lastly, an area of controversy. Tapes may be new or reused, but only if they are bulk erased, not simply erased by the recorder. However ALL tapes, even new, should be bulk erased before use. There are residual fields left from the manufacturing process. Put a new unrecorded tape in a good quality stereo and turn the bass and the volume up. Hit play and listen for a "whomp, whomp" sound as the tape runs. Those are residual magnetic fields. They will cause false EVP when you combine them with the steady hiss you get in the field. Your recorder erase head will not eliminate all of them. For the same reason you can't completely erase a tape for reuse. The erase head and the record/play heads do not track perfectly. That is why, when you reuse a tape you can still hear a faint voice left from the previous recording, even though you recorded over it. The bulk eraser, properly used, will eliminate both problems since it erases the entire tape, not just the narrow bands where the previous audio was recorded. The bulk eraser will clean a used tape just as well as a new tape, so as long as the used tape is mechanically sound there is no reason it is any less desirable than a new tape. Use it. "

INVESTIGATIONAL PROCEDURES What to Expect

Massachusetts Areas Ghost Investigators Coalition, otherwise know n as MAGIC, is a not-for-profit organization. This paranormal group is lead by several seasoned professionals in the paranormal field of research. Magic is looking to explore the means of paranormal existence scientifically without biased or meritocracy.
Magic does this by approaching their research from a scientific point of view, while looking for answers to the unknown. One of the things that Magic holds in high regard on any investigation is respect. Respect for people, places and the paranormal is crucial when doing an investigation. The abuse and misuse of places and property gives any industry a bad name including ours. In this we also value our client’s confidentiality. Below you will find an outline of how investigations that are requested will proceed.

• You will contact us via email. This will go to the lead investigator who will:
• Consider the nature of the alleged paranormal activity and decide if further action will be taken. If so then he/she will: Contact you in order gain further information and to set up an investigation by email/phone if it is deemed necessary.
Note* (We keep record of all conversations or letters/emails as we gather information about your situation. Once we have established the possibility of paranormal behavior, with your permission, we will launch an investigation.)

We will make suggestions for you to follow prior to our visit to the location.

- All animals must be contained the night of an investigation
- We must have access to areas that event(s) are occurring
- Children, if any, must be told about the investigation
- Friends and relatives should not be present during investigation
- Family members should try and stay in one room of the house at all times during investigation.
- Upon Arrival, we will make formal introductions.
- Have you sign the legal waiver form(s). (This is basically covers permission to do investigating and protects you as well as the group.)
- We will conduct another interview with you because we want to establish and understanding of who you are and what you are experiencing.
- We will have a member(s) ask basic questions about the history of the house/land.
- We will have you walk through the house with us. A walk threw with you is very important for us to be able to do our investigation properly. This is when you can explain where things were allegedly happening. At this point we encourage you to let us know if there are places that we are not permitted to go such as your bedroom. We will also want to know if there maybe children sleeping during the investigation.
- It is especially important for us to have access to places that have alleged paranormal activity.
- After gathering basic information we will begin taking pictures, video, and all other equipment readings. We will note such things as humidity, temperature, and weather conditions.
- Everything that we do is noted in logs this will also include personal experiences.
- An investigation can be a timely process (from 1 -8 hours) especially if we encounter the alleged paranormal activity.
- MAGIC wants the person that is allowing us to enter their home/place of business etc. to be comfortable with us and understand everything we are doing; therefore you will not be asked to leave your home at any time during the investigation.
- Once we feel that we have gathered all the information needed we will return your home to you in the same condition it was in when we arrived.
- We will take the next several weeks to review the evidence. Please understand that most of do work regular jobs and if invesitgation was lengthy, then it can take up to 3 weeks to go over all evidence. We want to be realistic in this regard.
- If we feel that we need more information/ pictures/etc is needed before we come to a conclusion a follow up visit may be requested.
- Once we review all the evidence we will present the homeowner our conclusions via telephone or in person depending on what is found.
- Once we determine that there is authentic behavior, the information gathered, with permission from the owner, will be posted on our website.

Magic doesn't hold all the answers on paranormal activity nor does any member claim to be an expert on paranormal activity.
We can help you with understanding to what you are dealing with.Some people choose to either live with it, move, or have a cleansing /blessing done in their home to make them feel more comfortable. We can assist in finding someone who can accomplish a cleansing /blessing for you though there are no guarantees that someone can remove a spirit/ghosts from a location.

ABOUT MEMBERSHIP TO MAGIC

MAGIC is a paranormal group dedicated to the research and study of the paranormal. We are a not-for-profit group established for this purpose. We do not claim to hold all the answers or claim to be "experts" in the field of the paranormal. There cannot be an expert in the study of the paranormal when we are each studying something that doesn't have a proven iron clad method of investigation. The science of the paranormal is still a new science and the study of it is also new. With that in mind we realize that this field of study is largely based on experimentation and exploration, which though exciting is not written in stone or proven to work every time. We consider ourselves to be professionals. We value and respect the people and places that we visit in our quest to gain knowledge and experience in this field. Our members have studied and trained with others in the field, read books and the research of others and most importantly experienced the paranormal first hand. This study has allowed them to have a working knowledge and understanding of the use a scientific method of investigation. This in return will help MAGIC to determine if what we do find is authentic.

We have come together in this field to understand and educate all of those willing to learn including ourselves. We will not make false statements or pretences in saying places are haunted or holds paranormal activity. At the conclusion of an investigation we will only present authentic evidence with respect to the paranormal.

To Apply for Membership you must be able to fill the following requirements
- be over the age of 18
- have a clean criminal record.( We have the right to check to insure safety to other members and the public when on a location)
- all persons to undergo a 90 day trial period. This trial period is for training purposes and to see if you will meet the requirements for our group. There will be an examination at the end of the trial period that is mandatory. You must pass to obtain membership.
- have access to email or phone
- to display a level of maturity that reflects positively upon the group as a whole and be willing to follow directions.

Requirements for Members of MAGIC
(*to include above requirements*)

-Members will know how to use equipment. The purchase of basic investigation kit is required.
- Responsible to attend meetings and investigations.
- Gather information on or about said/alleged haunted location.
- Be professional, respectful and follow all of MAGICS guidelines and protocol
- Abide by dress code. (see forms)
- NO MEMBER(S) of MAGIC will use the name MAGIC at anytime to innate an investigation with out the permission of Founder.
- NO MEMBER(S) of MAGIC will EVER receive a fee for any investigation.

People who will not be considered for Membership:

-Busy lifestyle
Please consider that this takes a lot of time and effort, which does not end at the end of an investigation. Therefore please consider you choice before contacting us for membership. You may be asked to be available on short notice or for long hours and you are expected to review your own evidence.

-Thrill Seekers
We are here to do research and come up with evidence that can help us determine if certain places hold paranormal activity. There is a lot of time consumed with investigating and reviewing evidence. This is not an easy task and a lot of research is done as well.

-Those with Criminal Records
We will not consider you if you have a criminal record which involves reckless behavior, violent or non-violent crimes, federal crimes, est. regardless of the age of the incident.

-Those that have Child/Abuse convictions
We will not consider you if you have a domestic abuse, child abuse, child molestation, or sex offender record. We must protect clients as we are in a very personal setting in which children are sometimes involved.
